I took a random day to myself and went for a ride, hopefully to find some dirt roads and see more of the northwest corner of the state. I was also hoping to catch Nature in her early spring glory but apparently I was too early. Here’s what I did find, however.
A farm off Rockaway Valley Rd
Free couch on the same road
The road over the Splitrock Dam
Glamor shot of the KLR
Furnace below Splitrock Dam
Small falls below the dam
The road leading west from Splitrock Dam
Military dock at Lake Denmark
I left the boat alone, really!
Bee hives ready to pollinate
Leftover snow at an unknown ski resort
The day was perfect and I enjoyed the time outside. The trees weren’t even hinting at being green and the bee hives were silent from the distance. It looked like I was going to have to come out again in a few weeks and see what had progressed.
Fascinating abandoned property in Monroe, NY
A pile of gravel leads me to believe there will be activity soon
Working waterwheel behind the house
Another water wheel, this one clogged by debris
More abandoned homes on the other side of the river
Strange art along the river
Nice! I grew up down the road from Splitrock. One of my favorite places to ride through!
