Snowshoeing at Snoqualmie Pass

It was finally time to get out and *do* something! So after a bit of discussion with some friends it was decided to go snowshoeing at Snoqualmie Pass. The weather looked dismal in Seattle but just a mere 40 miles away we found a playground of snow and, well, more snow!

January 5, 2008
Seattle, WA

It just a quick 40 minutes or so up I-90 to Snoqualmie Pass and the exit to Gold Creek/Hyack. The sky was overcast and the snow was gentle; it looked to be a pleasant day in the mountains.

Thick flakes falling at the trailhead
Katherine and Ralph getting their shoes out
Winter scenery at the main trail
Ducking under trees
Heavy snow on the outhouses
Frosty trees line the mountainsides
Almost a blue sky!
Snowy scene
Waiting for spring
Ducks on the lake with heavy snowfall
A well-buried bridge
Side trip
Thick snow sticking to the branches
Cutting through the trees
Katherine and Ralph making tracks
Final look at the mountians
