The Dangers of Riding in an Industrial Area

Its not if you crash, but when...

The night was dark, with a steady rain coming down. It had been raining for a few weeks, so this was nothing new. But the area that I rode through that night, while taken a couple of times before, was still not familiar to me, especially as dark as it was that night. Therefore it was easy for me to mis-judge the corner and not see the tracks until it was too late. Even then I was surprised to find myself sliding along on my back on the slick steel rails. The bike (KLR) was unhurt and after struggling to get it upright it was an uneventful ride home.

I usually go straight, but the darkness threw me off
While there's room to the left, I couldn't see that in the dark
Even steel plates to get you
Right about where I think I went down
I had come from a stop, so at least I wasn't going fast
A nasty, nasty place for bikes
