My
First Ride as a California Resident |
|
| I've been in California for a week now and hadn't been on a bike the entire time. It was time to change this!! | |

| My friend Jim posted on STN that he was going to go for a ride on Monday, Labor Day. Dan and I replied that we'd like to join him for a part of it. Jim knows just about every road in this area, whereas Dan knows very few and I know none. Jim met us at the apartment and then he led us on a merry ride out to the coast and back. I was invited to stop and take photos as often as I wanted to, but I found that may of the roads were were on were narrow and without shoulders, so stopping was an issue. I tried my best though, and will keep working on it! | |

| After a tasty lunch of fish 'n chips (and a chocolate-banana shake - mmmmm), Jim took us on some extremely back roads for the ride home. Naturally they're all new to me so it was challenging to watch the scenery as well as the road. And not to forget the frequent oncoming traffic on the narrow blind corners. | |

| Overall I was really impressed with how quickly I could get to some fun and twisty roads from the apartment. I think that I could keep myself amused for a long time checking out what the Bay Area has to offer before even getting out of my own neighborhood. And the way that cars will move over for bikes is amazing - I think I'm going to enjoy myself here! | |
