How to See the Country Without Stopping

This trip was made possible by Eisenhower and his Interstate System...

Because this journey covers so many miles and so many days, I'm going to break it up into three sections: the Journey East, the Ride North and The Return. As usual, I've written this for myself, so if I ramble on about seemingly insignificant details its because that's what stuck out in my memory, and what I wanted to preserve. If there's too much to read you can at least enjoy the pictures or save it for another day!

The Journey East
Riding North
The Return

I thought I'd post some stats here, as they often don't fit in well with the story and some people find them interseting. The "travel time" is from when I left in the morning to when I stopped at night, but does not neccessarily mean that I was sitting on the bike for the entire time. Rest stops, fuel stops, photo stops - they all bite into this figure.

Day 1 - 176 miles, 2.5 hours travel time

Day 2 - 773 miles, 13.5 hours travel time

Day 3 - 497miles, 10.5 hours travel time

Day 4 - 721 miles, 12.5 hours travel time

Day 5 - 620 miles, 11.5 hours travel time

Day 6 - 0 miles, 0 hours travel time

Day 7 - 591 miles, 12 hours travel time

Day 8 - 374 miles, 7.5 hours travel time

Day 9 - 56 miles, 2.5 hours travel time

Day 10 - 294 miles, 8 hours travel time

Day 11 - 136 miles, 3 hours travel time

Day 12 - 0 miles, 0 hours travel time

Day 13 - 0 miles, 0 hours travel time

Day 14 - 714 miles, 13 hours travel time

Day 15 - 686 miles, 12 hours travel time

Day 16 - 758 miles, 15.5 hours travel time

Day 17 - 444 miles, 9 hours travel time

Day 18 - 286 miles, 4.5 hours travel time

Day 19 - 226 miles, 4 hours travel time
