Winthrop - a quick ride for lunch - 10/05

There's always the threat of snow when crossing over the North Cascades Highway any time after September, so it was with a thrill and a chance of being turned back by snowfall that our group headed over the pass. While the west sides was cold and damp, as soon as we dropped over the last pass we were greeted by sunshine, if not slighly warmer temperatures. We ate a delicious bite of lunch and chose to head back to Seattle via Steven's Pass (Hwy 2) because it was getting later and darker, and it generally safer road.
